ICOPS’22 International Conference on Plant Science Organized

The P.G. Department of Botany, in collaboration with Kerala State Higher Education Council and Department of Botany, University of Calicut organized an International Conference entitled, ‘ICOPS’22 International Conference on Plant Sciences’ on 27 October, 2022. Keynote speaker Prof. Sergey Shabala, Tasmania University, Australia interacted with the students on the topic ‘Strategies and cost of plant osmotic adjustment’. The second session of ICOP’s 22, was a talk on Modern trends in Plant Taxonomy by Dr. Rajesh Kumar T., Assistant Professor of Botany, Department of Botany, NSS College, Manjeri. A talk on Modern trends in Plant Physiology was by Dr. Hussain Koorimannil, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, SNGS College, Pattambi was also a part of the seminar. Participants from various institutes made ICOPS’22 International Conference on Plant Science Organized Department of Chemistry One Day Seminar on Newly Emerging Issues in Water Pollution One day seminar on “Newly Emerging Issues in Water Pollution” was conducted by the PG Department of Chemistry on 31/10/2022. Dr. Muhammed Basheer Ummathur presided over the programme. IQAC coordinator Dr. Shahina Mol gave her felicitation. The technical session handled by Mr. Sajeesh A. K., Quality Control District Laboratory, Kerala Water Authority, Wayanad was on the topic, “Newly Emerging Issues in Water Pollution”. The resource person elaborated the pollution problems associated with the new issues in water pollutionsuch as excess iron content, Fluoride Content, and the presence of microplastics in water bodies. The resource person also contributed a copy of a book written by him to the department.The seminar was coordinated by Dr. Deepa K, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry. oral and poster presentations on different topics in plant research. Mrs. Shibily .V.K., Mrs. Fouzul Ahsana and Mrs, Shibila Banu kalathingal got first, second and third prizes for oral presentations and Mr. Anurag.P.S ,from Alagappa University, Karaikkudi won the award for the best poster.
