The Department of Botany in association with Agro & Horticulture club organized a meet as part of National Science Day 2023 celebrations on the theme of ‘Global Science for Global Wellbeing’. The meet featured Cheruvayal K Raman, who is a Padma Shri award winner. He has devoted his life to preserving and promoting rare and indigenous varieties of rice. During the meet, Raman shared his experiences and insights into the importance of conserving rare rice seeds. He explained how these seeds are not only important from a biodiversity perspective but also have the potential to contribute to global food security.
